Nourish is thrilled and honoured to publicly launch the short documentary"Miichim", which is about Kathy Loon and her team at Sioux Lookout MenoYaWin Health Centre (SLMHC) in Northwestern Ontario and their dedication to serving traditional foods to their Indigenous patients for health and healing. We did screened the film at Food for HealthSymposium early this month, which the audience responded to with a resounding standing ovation. The film was a collaborative effort betweenNourish with funding from the Greenbelt Fund and produced by Adjacent Possibilities.
Nourish believes that integration of Indigenous food ways in health care is a pathway to reconciliation. The work of Kathy Loon and SLMHC has already been receiving attention in the news and academic publications:
