Indigenous Food Rx
Nourish is investing in Indigenous foodways within hospitals and health organizations as a way to respond to and build back better from the pandemic.
Overview
Nourish is investing in Indigenous foodways within hospitals and health organizations as a way to respond to and build back better from the pandemic. A partnership with the Frontline fund enabled five Indigenous-focused projects to plant seeds for systems change while also addressing food insecurity exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Knowledge exchanges
Nourish hosted two knowledge exchanges to facilitate sharing among these five grantees, as well as six Indigenous focused grantee teams from the first round of Nourish-funded Food Rx projects (fall 2020). These virtual exchanges were opportunities for teams to share about the activities, insights, challenges and outcomes of their projects, as well as to provide each other with support, guidance, encouragement and inspiration. While each project is place-based and responds to local community needs, many connecting themes emerged which will inform the upcoming Indigenous Foodways active learning series.
