Going Local and Growing Saskatchewan

In keeping with the RQHR’s goal of enhancing the patient experience and systems sustainability, Nutrition and Food Services is working on increasing the amount of food we purchase from growers right here in Saskatchewan. In addition to saskatoon berries, we are purchasing potatoes grown just down the road in the Craven Valley and are seeking a local supplier for oats and barley. With Saskatchewan having nearly 40% of Canada’s total cultivated farmland and 97% of farms family-owned, buying local benefits us all!
