Meet Suzanne
Suzanne House is a registered dietitian and the Patient Experience Leader (previously Regional Manager of Food and Nutrition Services) for James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre (JPMRHC). Suzanne’s responsibilities include managing the Corporate Improvement Department as well as leading Central Health’s dietitian group. She believes food plays a much larger role in all our lives than simple nourishment. Food has strong linkages to our personal approach to health, to our social connections and well-being and to our culture. She is committed to continuously seeking means to improve the service provided to our population and has a strong interest exploring ways to enhance the sustainability of institutional food service.
Central Health
Central Health provides health and community services to approximately 20 per cent of the province's population. It is the second largest health region in Newfoundland serving a population of approximately 94,000. The geographical area served by Central Health includes 177 communities and encompasses more than half the total landmass of the island. The region extends from Charlottetown in the east, Fogo Island in the north, Harbour Breton in the south, to Baie Verte in the west.
Nourish Vision
At Central Health, we are working on improving our mode of food service delivery to be more patient centered. By exploring ways to offer more choice to our patients we expect to improve patient satisfaction. We anticipate an added benefit of more patient choice will be a more sustainable food service with significant reduction in food waste. In addition, we plan to further improve service by offering a menu that features more locally sourced and prepared options both for patients and in our cafeterias.
